PRE.TEXT / VOR.WAND – Tel Aviv, Israel

J.MAYER.H Project Team:
Juergen Mayer H., Regina Schubert, Maxime Vignolles

Curator: Henry Urbach

Project Date: June 6th 2019

Location: yaskyarch, Tel Aviv, Israel

pre.text/vor.wand (tel aviv) is a new work by J. Mayer H., an artist and architect based in Berlin, that explores conditions of privacy and transparency. The pattern, based on data protection codes, refers to patterns found inside bank and other envelopes designed to conceal sensitive information. Building envelopes and letter envelopes share some similarities. The windows of both allow views inside, while the opaque part limits access and provides privacy. The window in this installation has been partially covered in a data protection pattern that blurs the clear definition of the wall and window as opaque and transparent, an exercise in strategic graphic — and spatial — confusion. Yasky Architects’ program In:Front initiates events and projects to foster debate aboutarchitectureandurbanism. This is In:Front’s first commissioned installation.
