Quartier M
In einem dreistufigen Gutachterverfahren wurde für die bisherigen Flächen der Post an der Erkrather Straße ein städtebauliches Konzept entwickelt, woraus zwei erste Preisträger hervorgegangen sind. In a three-level peer review process that resulted in two first-prize winners, an urban planning concept was developed for the area of what was once the post office on Erkrather Strasse in Dusseldorf. Sarpi Border Checkpoint in Georgia
Im November 2011 wurde der Grenzkontrollpunkt in Sarpi fertig gestellt. Das von J. MAYER H. entworfene Gebäude zwischen Georgien und der Türkei liegt unmittelbar am Ufer des Schwarzen Meeres. Ein mit auskragenden Terrassen versehener Turm bietet Aussichtspunkte über das Meer und die steile Küste. Neben den für die Zollabfertigung benötigten Räumen sind in dem Gebäude auch eine Cafeteria, Personalräume und ein Konferenzsaal untergebracht. Das Gebäude steht am Eingang zu Georgien und ist ein Zeichen für den gegenwärtigen Aufschwung des Landes. Mehr über Sarpi.... 14.11.2011
November 2011 marks the completion of Sarpi Border Checkpoint. Designed by J. MAYER H. architects the customs checkpoint is situated at the Georgian border to Turkey, at the shore of the Black Sea. With its cantilevering terraces, the tower is used as a viewing platform, with multiple levels overlooking the water and the steep part of the coastline. In addition to the regular customs facilities, the structure also houses a cafeteria, staff rooms and a conference room. The building welcomes visitors to Georgia, representing the progressive upsurge of the country. J. MAYER H. Excerpt from the press release: "For the museum’s 10-metre high exhibition space J. MAYER H. has developed a walk-in installation. Walls and floor are clad in carpeting, on which data security patterns are printed in black and grey. The work’s space-consuming concept negates the strict geometry of the entrance hall. The considerably enlarged, repeating patterns produce a flickering impression and transform the white cube into a playful scenario of interpermeating forms and structures. Supplementary three-dimensional models translate the two-dimensional patterns into concrete forms.
