Exhibition: "SCAFFOLDING" October 2, 2017 – January 18, 2018, Center for Architecture, NYC Scaffolding is an exhibition that examines the history and extraordinary potential of scaffolding as a kit-of-parts technology to provide novel forms of inhabitation and access. Of particular interest to our local New York City audience – there are an estimated 280 miles of scaffolding occupying New York City at any given time – scaffolding is a flexible and accessible system hiding in plain sight. Through an installation of actual scaffolding designed by OMA’s Shohei Shigematsu, Scaffolding will reimagine the architectural space of the Center for Architecture, giving the visitor a new appreciation of scaffolding and its transformative potential. JMH and our project FOM Düsseldorf, profiled in The New York Times."The Berlin architect Jürgen Mayer H, 51, wants his Business School for FOM University in Düsseldorf, Germany, to take on an urban agenda as well. In addition to its classrooms and meeting facilities, FOM offers a series of cantilevered balconies that create gathering spaces overlooking the city and an adjacent park. The biggest of these also attaches to a neighboring viaduct, inviting pedestrians to utilize the building as a pathway down to the park." Ways of Life is an investigation into the new condition of working in close proximity in nature. The time ‘after work’ was traditionally where ‘life’ began. Today, the line between work and life has never been so blurred. More people now work from home than ever before, which has also enabled a new nomadicism into the countryside and nature. The following emerging offices from around the globe have been asked to develop a prototype dwelling that immerses work in nature while clarifying the relationship between work/ life and the individual / collective. The projects will be present at EXPERIMENTA URBANA, a co-event with documenta 14 in Kassel/Germany on July 5th 2017.   04.07.2017
