New college Building for FOM Hochschule, Berlin Building project: The planned freestanding collage building, situated between the Spree and the Landwehrkanal, is located at the corner of Englische Straße and Gutenbergstraße in the heterogeneous Berlin district of “Tiergarten”. Five full stories and an underground parking garage are planned. The roof will feature a terrace and for technical equipment area. The design of the building is determined by closed external monolithic walls, resulting from vertical incisions across several stories with double-facade ribbons, interrupted by the entrance facade on the ground floor and for the roof terrace. The area will be developed in the coming years with residential, commercial, and hospitality buildings. Mercedes Benz offices and the historical headquarters of the KPM porcelain factory are in the immediate vicinity. Excellent public transportation connections as well as the proximity to the Technische Universität Berlin make the property an ideal location for the university. The nonprofit college FOM is Germany’s largest private university. With 24 study centers in Germany and further facilities abroad, the colleges boasts a student body of approx. 21,000 professionals and trainees who study parallel to their profession. A new building became necessary due to the Berlin collage’s steadily growing number of students. Construction should take place until autumn 2017. ![]() |
